Association for the Culture and Tourism of Vietnam in Europe

Privacy policy

Last updated: 8 October 2026

VNCT respects your privacy. This page explains in plain terms what personal data we collect when you use the site, for what purpose, how long we keep it, who can access it and what rights you have — in accordance with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the French Data Protection Act (loi Informatique et Libertés).

1. Who is responsible for your data

The party responsible for your data — the “controller”, in GDPR terms — is the Association for the Culture and Tourism of Vietnam in Europe (VNCT), a non-profit association governed by the French law of 1901.

  • Registered office: c/o Vietnam Cultural Centre in France, 19 rue Albert, 75013 Paris, France
  • Email: [email protected]

Information about the site’s publisher and hosting provider can be found on the Legal notice page.

2. The data we collect, why and for how long

We only collect the data you provide to us yourself, and only what is necessary for each purpose:

Fields marked with an * in the forms are mandatory: without them, we cannot reply to you. We do not ask for any sensitive data (health, religion, political opinions…): please do not include any in your message.

VNCT does not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling.

3. Who has access to your data

  • VNCT officers (Executive board, secretariat) — each only has access to the information needed for their role.
  • Our technical service providers, acting on VNCT’s instructions: website hosting, email, newsletter mailing tool. They are bound by contract to confidentiality (Article 28 GDPR) and may not use the data for their own purposes.
  • VNCT members — only if you wish to be put in touch with them. For example, if you ask us about an itinerary, we will ask for your agreement before forwarding your message to a member travel agency.
  • Public authorities — only where required by law.

We do not sell, rent or exchange your data.

4. Does your data leave Europe?

The data VNCT collects through the site is stored in the European Union.

The Google Maps map on the Contact page is a Google service that may process data in the United States. It only loads with your consent (see section 5); this transfer is based on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, recognised by the European Commission on 10 July 2023.

We do not transfer your data to Vietnam, unless you yourself ask VNCT to put you in touch with a partner in Vietnam and agree to this transfer.

A cookie is a small file that the site saves on your device to remember certain information. The VNCT website uses three categories of cookies:

Category Use Consent required? Retention period
Strictly necessary Remembering your chosen language and your cookie choices, protecting forms against spam No — without them, the site does not work properly Language: 12 months. Cookie choices: 6 months
Audience measurement Counting visits and finding out which pages are read most so that we can improve our content. Aggregated statistics, never used for advertising purposes Yes 13 months maximum
Third-party content Displaying the Google Maps map on the Contact page and videos embedded in articles Yes — the map and videos only load after you give your consent According to the provider’s policy (Google)

On your first visit, a banner appears with three buttons: Accept all, Reject all and Customise — refusing is as easy as accepting. Your choice is kept for 6 months, after which we ask you again.

You can change your mind at any time: click “Manage cookies” in the footer to reopen the banner. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

The share buttons on news pages are simple links: the site does not install any trackers from Facebook, LinkedIn or any advertising network.

6. Your rights

For the data VNCT holds about you, you have the following rights:

  • Right of access — to know what data we hold and obtain a copy of it.
  • Right to rectification — to have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
  • Right to erasure — to request the deletion of your data, except data that the law requires us to keep (such as supporting documents for membership fees).
  • Right to restriction of processing — to suspend the use of your data while your request is being examined.
  • Right to object — to object to processing based on legitimate interest; to unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time.
  • Right to data portability — to receive your data in a commonly used format so that you can pass it on elsewhere.
  • Right to withdraw your consent at any time — processing carried out beforehand remains lawful.
  • Right to set instructions regarding what happens to your data after your death (a provision specific to French law).

7. Exercising your rights and lodging a complaint

Write to [email protected] with the subject line “Personal data”, or send a letter to VNCT’s registered office (address in section 1). Specify what you would like to do, and for which data.

  • We will reply within one month. A complex request may require up to two additional months — in that case, we will let you know in advance.
  • This procedure is free of charge. If we have any doubt about your identity, we may ask you for additional information to verify it.
  • To stop receiving the newsletter, simply click the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of each mailing.

If you believe your rights have not been respected, you can lodge a complaint with the CNIL — the French data protection authority: 3 place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07, website www.cnil.fr.

8. How we protect your data

  • The site runs entirely over an encrypted connection (HTTPS).
  • Only authorised officers have access to the administration area, each with a personal account.
  • Data is backed up regularly; the forms are protected against spam.
  • In the event of a data breach, we notify the CNIL within 72 hours — and we inform you directly where it is likely to have serious consequences for you.

9. Children

The site is intended for adults. In France, minors under 15 must obtain their parents’ agreement before providing personal data: we invite them to ask their parents to send the form or subscribe to the newsletter on their behalf. If we learn that we have received the data of a child under 15 without this agreement, we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

When our use of data changes, we update this page and indicate the date of the update. Significant changes — such as using data for a new purpose — will be brought to your attention through the newsletter or a notice on the site, and we will ask for your consent again if necessary.

The site is available in six languages. In the event of any discrepancy in interpretation between the translations, the French version shall prevail.
